A-level results!

Today is the day…

I’ve been really anxious to receive my A-level results after 2 years of hard work. Especially for art! I enjoyed being able to explore my art style as well as try different mediums I never would have normally. As well as Art, I took English Language and Philosophy, both of which helped me think more deeply about ideas and concepts and how to communicate them clearly.

I hope if you received your results today you got what you wanted.

My results were A* for Art, A* for English Language and B for Philosophy. I am especially pleased with my Art result, as it’s the subject I worked the hardest for. Although I didn’t personally need any particular results, those that did are really on my mind right now.

Here is some of my A-level art work…

This is my final piece done in oils on an A2 board. My intention with this was to contrast the everyday trivial decisions we agonise over with the massive world changing decisions that carry far more significance and the way the former can obscure the latter. I could write an essay about this (and I have!) but hopefully you can see the reference to The Matrix!

This was one of the first drawings I did under the theme of distortion. We had to take all our own reference photos so I had fun setting this one up and getting the lighting just right.

This is one of my personal favourites as I love how the mixed media came together to represent internal conflict.

This one again is under the theme ‘conflicted’ and in the style of an artist I researched called Josh Hernandez. This is more loose and free than my realistic style, however it was one of the most enjoyable to do!

It’s good to have done my A-levels but I’m thankful they’re over as it means I can put my full focus into developing my business and drawing more pet portraits for people!
