Pastel Portraits

In this gallery you can see some of the amazing animals I've drawn using pastels. While coloured pencils work well on white paper, pastels can be applied to different coloured paper, which can sometimes help the subject to stand out. Pastels are great for soft focus backgrounds, but by sharpening them to a fine point I am also able to portray the fine detail needed for my portraits. Pastels pictures have a wonderful range and richness of colour and while they need a little extra care when handling and framing, the results are well worth it.
