Hand-drawn pet portraits
Welcome to my pet portrait and animal art website! I love drawing animals and hope to have the opportunity to create a beautiful, personalised picture for you. As you can see from the artwork below, and reviews of my work, my hand-drawn pet portraits are highly realistic and true to life, yet they also have a warmth and softness to them as I seek to bring out the subject’s unique character and express something of the love and affection we have for them. I am based in the UK in the beautiful Norfolk country side, but regularly ship my artwork all over the world, so wherever you live, please do get in touch to enquire about a commission.
My life as a pet portrait artist
I’ve been drawing and creating animal art for many years but it’s a dream come true to be working at it full-time as a pet portrait artist. My pet portrait business is at an exciting stage and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s making it possible, whether it’s by ordering commissions, purchasing gift vouchers, prints and cards, giving encouraging feedback, or simply following along with me on my journey. Thank you!
“Millie looks absolutely stunning! I can’t believe how you have captured her in every way! This looks just like a photo! We just love it!” (Reviews of my work)
Enquiring about a pet portrait
If you have a pet, or favourite animal, then I’d love to create a high quality, realistic artwork for you to treasure and enjoy. If you are currently considering it, you might want to read some reviews of my work or check out 10 reasons why pet portraits are so good! Pet portraits also make perfect presents (see my articles on great presents for dog owners and cat owners) so perhaps there is someone you know who would be thrilled to receive one, or you could give them a gift voucher so they can be involved in the process themselves.
Whoever it’s for, if you would like to enquire about a possible commission, or have any questions about it at all, please do get in touch.
“I ordered a portrait of my two cats and my hubby and I are so happy with just how realistic and spot on the drawing is. To everyone, please buy her artwork!” (Reviews of my work)
Exploring the options for your pet portrait
Initially, you might not know exactly what you want, but that’s fine. I’m happy to explore the various options with you (pose, size, background, timescale etc. ) You are not committing to anything by asking, and there is no payment required until you decide to go ahead. You can get an idea of my pet portrait prices here but I will be able to give you an exact quote when I know a bit more about what you would like. You’ll want to take a look at my terms and conditions at some stage and my FAQ page has some helpful info on it too, but always feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have.
“Thank you so much! It looks so real, just like him.” (Reviews of my work)
Choosing a great reference photo
I create your pet portrait from a photo of your pet. One of the first things to think about, therefore, is choosing a good photograph that I can use as a reference. You can find out more about what makes a good reference photo here. If you want to send me a few different ones that’s fine, as we can discuss what would be a good main one for me to work from. Having more than one can also help me see more of your pet’s unique character.
I will then use the reference photo to create a digital mock-up of what the portrait will look like. I won’t have drawn anything at this stage, but it will help you see visually what I will create if you do decide to go ahead. Once you are happy with the pose and size etc, I will be able to give you a final quote. I can give you a rough idea of postage and packaging at this stage but may need to finalise that later.
“The picture went down so well, thank you so much. He has pride of place on the wall. Everyone was very impressed with your skills!” (Reviews of my work)
Creating your pet portrait
When you are ready to go ahead, you can secure your place in my commissions queue with a 25% deposit. I will let you know when I start work on your artwork and keep you up to date with photographs of how it is progressing. Depending on the size and complexity, a commission can take anything from a few days, to a few weeks to create. When it is completed, and you are happy with it, simply pay the outstanding amount and I’ll send it straight to you - beautifully gift wrapped.
“It’s even more amazing in real life!” (Reviews of my work)
