A happy half year of art!

It’s the start of a new year and since I’ve now been a full-time artist for just over six months, I thought I’d take the opportunity to look back at how far I’ve come since I set out on my journey in July 2022. Here are some of the things I’ve done:

  • Registered my business

  • Printed business cards

  • Decided on a stylish paw-print logo design using my initials (SE)

  • Selected my brand colours (teal, lavender and copper)

  • Put together some beautiful, gift-box packaging for my competed drawings

  • Designed a certificate of authenticity and a care and framing guide to go out with my pictures

  • Launched a new website

  • Increased my domain authority from 0 to 5 (thank you for the backlinks!)

  • Launched a Twitter account

  • Created a Facebook page

  • Exhibited my artwork at a local vets

  • Joined LinkedIn

  • Increased my Instagram followers from 1k to 16.6k

  • Posted lots more on Instagram and finally got the hang of reels!

  • Applied for and was accepted for 2 business grants

  • Purchased a professional quality giclee fine art printer

  • Purchased a MacBook pro

  • Started learning and using photoshop

  • Purchased a more comfortable chair (I tried a kneeling one but find a gaming chair works best)

  • Increased my prices

  • Donated a commission to support a dog rehabilitation and rehoming charity

  • Offered Gift vouchers

  • Set up a more professional email address (you can now contact me via Sophie@SophieEllaFineArt.com)

  • Took some holiday (not always easy when you are self-employed!)

  • Opened an online shop selling prints and cards of my work

  • Posted blogs to keep you up-to-date with my journey as a full-time artist

  • And most importantly of all, completed lots of commissions for UK and international customers.

Thank you everyone for your amazing support and encouragement of my new business! I’ve come a long way, but there is so much more I want to do. In the next few months I’d like to:

  • Work in pastels more

  • Purchase a quality A3 scanner

  • Set up an office with more desk and storage space

  • Redesign my business cards with new logo and colours

  • Increase my domain authority

  • Offer more prints and cards

  • Get another wildlife commission

  • And, of course, enjoy drawing many more of your lovely pets, so if you’re thinking about commissioning me, do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks again, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted about my progress!
